Workshop H: Working with Young Men The sexual health concerns of young men are unique, as are the ways in which health-related information is delivered to them. In addition to young men often being disengaged from their health care needs, and a lack of specialized health services, there is a general attitude that health, and specifically sexual and reproductive health, is a "woman's or gay issue." This view contributes to the barriers young heterosexual men experience when seeking sexual health and reproductive services. This unique training will provide concrete insight and build skills towards the development and expansion of health services and programming for young men. Examine the social, political and environmental determinants that shape young men's experience of health and the health system. Training will address concerns young men have identified including mental health, self-esteem, sex, STIs and relationships. |
