Welcome to the Training Centre!

Planned Parenthood Toronto’s Training Centre offers training for service providers on a variety of topics on sexuality, sexual and reproductive health, education and prevention. Taught by experienced facilitators, these sessions offer the latest in information and practice to service providers who work with a variety of communities.

Training sessions will help participants identify key elements of effective sexual health education based on the latest research, develop comfort with discussing sexual health, develop increased knowledge of key sexual health topics, recognize the importance of values, attitudes, and beliefs in teaching and learning about sexual health, and learn strategies and skills to address diverse learning styles, cultures, and experiences.

This year, we are introducing a webinar on some of our well-known workshops such as Introduction to Healthy Sexuality, Birth Control, STIs and Safer Sex, and Merging Technology with Sexual Health. We are also continuing the trainings on how to incorporate sexual health programming based on PPT’s groundbreaking Toronto Teen Survey (2009) as well as have broadened our trainings to include populations in addition to youth. Please note our new workshop format, location, and hours. We look forward to working with you and hope that you find PPT’s Training Centre to be an informative and rewarding professional development experience. Workshop: Working with Young Men
Tuesday June 7, 2011 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
Fee: $95 per person per workshop

The sexual health concerns of young men are unique, as are the ways in which health-related information is delivered to them. In addition to young men often being disengaged from their health care needs, and a lack of specialized health services, there is a general attitude that health, and specifically sexual and reproductive health, is a “woman’s or gay issue.” This view contributes to the barriers young heterosexual men experience when seeking sexual health and reproductive services.
This unique training will provide concrete insight and build skills towards the much needed development and expansion of health services and programming for young men. Examine the social, political and environmental determinants that shape young men’s experience of health and the health system. Training will address concerns for young men such as mental health, self-esteem, sex, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and relationships.
