Birth control

You will need a prescription from a PPT clinician to purchase any birth control or treatment. You can get emergency contraceptives right away with one of our Peer Health Educators. Call (416) 961-0113 or check out our appointments page for full hours.

Options

Our birth control is among the cheapest in the city because we believe that affordable birth control is everyone’s right. We offer a variety of types of birth control depending on your need:

  • oral contraception (“the pill”)
  • Nuva Rings
  • IUDs (intrauterine devices)
  • emergency contraception
  • condoms (free and available anytime)

IUDS

We both sell and insert IUDs but we will also insert one you’ve purchased elsewhere. If you’re not sure what you want, book a session with a volunteer to go over all of your options.

HIV and STI Testing

HIV and STI testing is done by appointment. Call (416) 961-0113 or check out our appointments page for full hours.

HIV testing

Planned Parenthood Toronto is unable to offer anonymous and/or Rapid Point-of-Care (POC) HIV testing at this time.

We perform standard HIV tests. With the standard test, we take a vial of your blood and send it off to a lab. We will call you with the results (or you can call us!) and the test is 99.5% accurate.

sexually-transmitted infection (STI) testing

We believe that the stigma of having an STI can be worse than the infections themselves. This is why we encourage all of our clients to get tested regularly at our sex-positive, non-judgmental clinic. We offer testing for sexually transmitted infections including but not limited to:

  • Chlamydia – via urine
  • Gonorrhea
  • Molluscum
  • Syphilis
  • Hepatitis B and C
  • Trichomoniasis
  • Herpes
  • HPV

Testing for these STIs may involve urine tests, blood draws, visual examinations, and/or vaginal, throat, or rectum swabs.

the choice is yours

Planned Parenthood Toronto is a pro-choice organization. When you are pregnant,
we believe that you have the right to access factual, caring, and non-judgmental information and services on all three of your options: abortion, adoption, and parenting. If you need support with decision making, contact PPT to book an appointment.

medical abortion at PPT

Planned Parenthood Toronto offers a limited number of medical abortion appointments for pregnancies up to 9 weeks. We also offer referrals to other abortion providers to support other needs.

prenatal services

Planned Parenthood Toronto offers shared care for prenatal clients. This means that we see clients for the first part of their pregnancy, and then refer them to midwives or doctors for delivery. We offer full prenatal healthcare, including nutritional counseling, regular check-ups, and information on other services available in the city.
